Extract from “PSM wants rights for migrant workers”

Parti Sosialis Malaysia (PSM) has called on the government to immediately start taking measures to honour the rights of the six million migrant workers in the country and not link their fate to the Trans Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPPA). Malaysia, as before, was able to ratify any International Labour Organisation (ILO) conventions irrespective of whether there was a trade agreement or not, pointed out PSM Central Committee Member & Migrant Desk Head Rani Rasiah in a statement. “So what is holding the government back from immediately ratifying the convention and amending our labour laws?”
