“The textile industry only contributes about 0.23% to the GDP and that’s why any profits gained in the TPPA makes minimal impact.

“The sector that will benefit the most is automotive components that are mostly owned by Malaysians and countries like Mexico and Canada that are among top producers of such components.

“The irony is such an industry is based on protected policy understanding that started Proton and when the TPPA is signed, that policy will be abolished under the agreement,” he said.
